DOJO RULES
1. Karate ka will behave as ladies and gentlemen at all times, both inside and outside of the dojo.
2. Higher belts will aid lower belts at all times and lower belts will follow the instructions of the higher
belts.
3. Do not criticize other martial arts or other martial artists.
4. No alcohol or drugs before class and no candy, gum or smoking while inside the dojo.
5. Each student will bow upon entering and leaving the dojo. If you arrive late, stand at the door in
front position and wait for an instructor to bow you in.
6. No Karate ka will provoke violence or allow himself to be provoked into violence under the pain
of possible expulsion for life from the dojo.
7. No sparring without the express permission of the Sensei or Black Belt.
8. No loud talking, laughter or profanity is permitted. Remember, the dojo is a serious place of
serious study.
9. Personal cleanliness is essential, nails must be clipped, feet and hands must be spotless and hair
must not interfere with your training.
10. All jewelry must be removed before entering the dojo.
11. No leaning on any of the studio walls. It is a sign of laziness and disrespect.
12. All membership fees are paid on time. If for some reason they cannot be paid, make the
necessary arrangements with the Sensei, either before or after class.
13. All sparring Gear and Training equipment MUST be purchased through FMAC. We believe that
our students should receive the best equipment that offers the best protection. Equipment
purchased outside of the FMAC WILL NOT BE ALLOWED in the Dojo. No Exceptions.
14. Under no circumstances will any form of karate be taught by any member to any non member.
Also, no students should teach anything to any member without the Sensei's express permission.
15. At the discretion of the Sensei, any member of the club may be suspended from the dojo, either
temporarily or permanently, for not complying with any of the above rules.
16. All students should refer to the head instructor as Sensei, which is the honorable way of saying
"teacher" in Japanese. Instructors should be addressed as Sir or Ma'am.
BOWING
1. Always bow into the dojo when entering or exiting the main entrance to show respect for the dojo.
2. Always bow to anyone you are working with to show respect for each other.
3. Bow to an instructor that has helped you, as a sign of gratitude.
KNEELING
1. Proper way to kneel; kneel down on the left knee setting the toes of the left foot. The toes of the
right foot should be in line with the left knee. Kneel down on the right knee and both feet have the
toes in a set position. Unset your toes and cross the right big toe over the left and sit back onto
your heels with your feet underneath and palms on thighs. When rising, reverse the procedure.
2. Always kneel when putting on or taking off your belt. Avoid letting belt touch the floor to show
respect for your rank.
3. Always kneel when a higher rank is putting on or taking of his/her belt to show respect for their
rank.
4. When in dojo, kneel when a class is meditating and remain silent.
DRESS CODE
1. No street shoes, street sneakers, or socks allowed on the dojo mats.
* Special Training sneakers or bare feet only.
2. All White Gis to 1st degree Brown belts - All White or All Black Gis.
* Black Belt and Master Belt Clubs may wear club Gis.
3. Summer uniforms: any FMAC T-Shirt with Gi Pants & Belt.
* Summer uniforms are allowed in all sparring classes year round.
* Dates for summer uniforms will be posted.
* Full Gis are required for tests.
* Uniforms must be clean at all times.
4. Patches - students may wear any appropriate patch in any proper location in accordance to the
following:
* All ranks are required to wear a FMAC patch with correct side up over heart side of their
chest.
* Purple belts & up are required to wear an American Flag patch on the right sleeve.
* Instructor patch on the left sleeve (optional).
* Team leader patch on the left sleeve (optional).
* Black Belt Club patch on the left sleeve (required for members).
* Presidential Award patch on the right sleeve below flag patch (optional).
* Kenpo Fist patch on the left outside leg below knee (optional).
* Five Animal patch on the right outside leg below knee (optional).
* Kenpo Crest patch on right outside leg mid-calf (optional).
5. Male students are required to wear a protective cup during all classes.
6. Uniforms will be clean and free from holes. rips, tears, etc.Also, school patch must be worn.
IF YOU ARE NOT AT THE DOJO TO TRAIN SERIOUSLY ---- GO HOME!
DON'T WASTE THE TIME OF THE INSTRUCTORS, OTHER STUDENTS,-- OR YOUR OWN!
